    For the following purposes: to continue and expand inclusion of children from the above center into schools # 114 and 43 and Mkhitar Sebastatsi complex; early assistance to children (pre-school age) with disabilities and assessment of their educational needs in Lori, Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik and Syunik regions, provide seminars for the group of specialists dealing with assessment and education of these children (speech therapist, special pedagogue, teacher, psychologist, social educator, coordinator and parents); maintenance and further development of a website of the Center to be used by interested parties and translation of the material from foreign sources relevant to inclusion. They also plan to invest the idea of teacher assistant in inclusive schools by allocating a specialist from the center to work with teachers and assist them on the spot in the teaching process. Additionally, a series of TV programs about all three projects will be prepared. The project as well requests $9000 from Emergency Fund to transport children with disabilities to and from home to schools. Transportation costs for 30 children with disabilities to/from the Assessment Center and inclusive schools are requested from EF in the amount of $9,000

    For the following purposes: to provide equal opportunities for children with hearing impairments to quality education and integration by training teachers and other specialists in mainstream and special schools and promoting inclusion, engaging in early detection of children with hearing impairments through gradually becoming a resource center for the respective community. The project plans to train and assist teachers of inclusive schools where children with hearing problems study; organize trips to regional schools for the same purposes; teach children using a special program “Crazy Talk” for children with hearing issues, train 20 students, 20 parents, 15 police officers and 15 polyclinic personnel on gesture language. Another initiative is involving pre-school children into educational activities to help treat/mitigate their problems so later they are able to attend mainstream schools. The project also plans to create, multiply and distribute three educational manuals, provide transportation services to ensure attendance of children to school from vulnerable families and remote areas as well as excursions for these children. Transportation costs for 140-150 children are requested from EF in the amount of $8,000. In-kind contribution of the Organization to the project is $4,000

The organization for gathering information will rely on the existing hotline, will sent requests for information to different government bodies and the information in the official responses, publications in media – traditional and online, related materials produced by partner organizations will be uploaded on their websites. Besides, organization’s lawyers will follow court cases related to media organizations to assess the process, provide publicity of the court process and the court decisions. Project includes also monitoring of coverage of press conferences by TV companies held by representatives of different political parties held in Yerevan-based clubs. The organization will employ the same methodology to carry out the monitoring within this project as in last year. The project has aim to develop recommendations on improving media-related legislation and especially related to transition from analogue to digital broadcasting. Given the fact that Armenian TVs are supposed to go digital by 2015, the role of the Digitalization Group will become even more important. The Group will continue actively following all the processes, preparing expert opinions and statements that will be widely distributed, developing recommendations on improving legislation.     For strengthening the civil society human rights monitoring mechanism over pre-trial facilities. The following activities will be carried out: monitoring of human rights and health situation in the institutions through regular (at least twice to each institution) and ad-hoc visits with filled in questionnaires that are to be developed; keeping a log on the number of detainees in each institution in the country (information will be acquired through phone calls that are to be recorded for each facility no less than once every 3 days); awareness raising among detainees on their rights with a special focus on health rights through development and publication of informative and concise booklets or flyers; immediate reaction to cases of violations; preparation of annual, current and ad-hoc reports and presentation of the reports through roundtable discussions and press conferences; regular update of the www.policemonitoring.org website. The Group will focus on advocating for opening up police facilities for civic oversight and towards this aim will also collaborate with the Public Monitoring Group over Penitentiary. In order to attract new members to the Group, a call for applications will be circulated quarterly in the media. The Group will collaborate with medical experts, sociologists and psychologists to increase effectiveness of human rights data gathering and monitoring. The Group will also work on collaborating with media in order to increase visibility of Group’s work

    For the following purposes: to challenge the way how the Armenian TV companies portray persons with disabilities and cover disability issues; to raise awareness of young people about disability issues; to challenge the existing stereotypes about women with disabilities; and to enhance the protection of rights of PWD in the regions. For the first time in Armenia, a disability-oriented monitoring of TV and film production will be conducted. In order to challenge the way how the Armenian TV companies portray persons with disabilities and cover disability issues the following activities will be accomplished: training for monitors, monitoring of TV/video production, editing selected videos, presentation of monitoring outcomes, and workshops for film-makers and journalists. Also, NGO’s Facebook page and web campaign on PWD rights, ads and media announcements and various public actions will be arranged. To Challenge the existing stereotypes about women with disabilities are as follows: casting for photo exhibition, preparing the models, photographing, editing photos, printing photos and photo exhibition. In addition to its 2 branches in Meghri and Spitak, Unison, NGO has recently created a nation-wide Network of defenders of Rights of PWD in order to enhance the protection of rights of PWD in the regions. In the framework of this project, the branches and the Network as a whole will hold joint activities in the regions coordinated by Unison, NGO Yerevan office

    For the following purposes: to promote legislative reforms with regards to freedom of religion; and take actions against religious hatred propaganda and actions towards shaping of a positive public opinion on religious tolerance. In the framework of this project, the NGO will provide free legal consultation to persons suffered from religious intolerance and an opportunity to take cases to the court. Also, the project envisages protection of religious minorities’ rights via advocacy tools such as publication of letters to government officials, developing complaints to HR protection state agencies and cooperation with Media ethics monitoring body. Permanent media monitoring on the matters of religious intolerance will be conducted. The Project will be accomplished through organizing two public discussions (2 hours) about new legislative initiatives and religious freedom situation. It is expected to have 30-40 participants. The target groups are: religious organizations, local and international organizations, government officials, ministry of education and culture, political parties, National Assembly Parliament Members, journalists, experts and students. It is expected to analyze and discuss legislative initiatives with experts and all interested parties; afterwards to come up with recommendations. The project aims at forming tolerant public attitude via www.religions.am website; social networks; articles and interview publications on www.lragir.am and www.zham.am provided by the NGO; a research and on-line publication of a journal; and disseminating religious freedom related information via mass media. A yearly report on Religious Freedoms consisting of the following sections: legislative developments, cases of violations of rights and media analysis

    For the following purposes: to raise awareness of craftsmen and painters in Tavush marz regarding blog creation, management, digitalization, and editing of the exhibited products; to establish and enhance the network between the producers and their potential customers, stimulate innovation and harness their creative skills. During the project a 3-day course on cotemporary photography for three age groups of interested artists will be organized and a blog exhibiting the works of local artists in the region will be created. The participants will be taught how to operate the website, create their personal galleries and portfolios, and facilitate their connection with the artists in the field in Armenia and abroad. In order to better promote their works, meetings and exhibitions will be held for the craftsmen and painters of the region to showcase their works to an expanded audience and potential customers. In the final stage of the project, the participants will be invited to forward their best works for a competition and exhibition where the best products will be selected and awarded by a jury composed of the members of the Union of Artists of Armenia and representatives of Art School of Berd. The project will be concluded with a round table aimed to assess the achievements of the project and further disseminate the project to a wider audience

    For the following purposes: to use child-friendly interactive-theatrical teaching methods in order to support on-going efforts to reduce prejudice against children with special needs, as well as help mentally or physically disabled children to enjoy a full and decent life in conditions which ensure dignity, promote self-reliance, and facilitate the child’s active participation in the community. During the project the grantee will produce a 35 minute interactive-educational theatre performance dedicated to the promotion of the rights of disabled children and arrange 16 presentations of the above-mentioned show in 16 inclusive schools/child centers located in most distant regional communities of Armenia. It is planned to involve experienced child psychologist, professional scriptwriter, theatre director and young actors with special skills and experience to work with children with special needs.
